Making an Acrylic LED Lamp 



Have you seen one of those videos where there's a beautiful-looking LED lamp next to a bed in the night, which looks mesmerising? Some even have RGB LEDs. It can change the whole vibe of your bedroom, based on the colour of that lamp. 

So, have you ever wondered how you can make it? Well, this is how I made it.

Components:
  • 4mm MDF Sheet
  • 3.5mm Acrylic sheet
  • FeviBond Adhesive
Tools:
  • Soldering Gun and its accessories
  • Laser Cutting Machine
  • Hax Saw
  • 3D printer
Instructions:

1. Cut all the laser cutting files and print the .stl file given in this drive link- https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1FlcU4zotC1YH0lXTxMPcFfAOB6T-FJQL?usp=sharing

2. Take the Zero PCB and cut it using the Hax Saw 
    Dimensions: 48mmx78mm

3. According to the given circuit, place all the components on the PCB and solder all of the components. This process takes time. The soldering is kind of complex due to the size.

4. After soldering all of the components on the PCB, it's time to solder the female connector pins to the switch, potentiometers and the female jack, according to the circuit.

5. After all of the connections are done, test it. 
(Note: red light in the LED is going to appear dimmer than blue and blue dimmer than green. This is a drawback of these LEDs.) 




6. If it is working, it is time to assemble the whole box. 
  • Firstly, put hot glue all over the PCB from below where the circuit is done. 
  • After that, make sure the LEDs are in a single line horizontally and then put the laser-cut MDF sheet on the LEDs. 
  • Then, take the potentiometers, switch and the jack and fix them on the respective parts of the box that we are going to make. 
  • Then, take the FeviBond Adhesive and apply it to the teeth of the box pieces. Keep it for 10 minutes. Then, simply assemble the box pieces by sticking them together.                        

  • After drying up, take the cut acrylic sheet and insert it on the top surface of the box. (Apply some glue if necessary.)                                                                                                                   

  • Take the 3D printed knobs and put them on the knobs of the potentiometer. 

7. Check if it is working. If it is, then try it in a dark room.
